Annual Baby Parade
sponsored by the Lancashire Hall
When the first Baby Parade was held in 1937 as part of the Fourth of July celebration, there were three divisions: Colonial; Most Original, Artistic, & Best Dressed; Twins only. The parade began at 7 p.m. at the "coffee house" at the west end of the Park and was led by a trio of musicians, dressed as "the Spirit of '76," It followed designated paths and disbanded at the newly constructed Band Shell, where the winners were announced.
In 1986, Lititz Mayor Roy B. Clair, Jr., encouraged the revival of the Baby Parade which ended in 1959. Organized by the Lititz Woman's Club, led by a small contingent of baton twirlers from "Aquarius," 14 entrants in strollers, wagons, floats, and even shopping carts, marched along the shaded walkways to the delight of viewers. The Fourth of July Celebration Baby Parade was reborn.
Delmar Landis Grand Prize
For five years, Delmar Landis had a passion to build larger than life large Baby Parade floats depicting the Lititz Springs Park and the theme of the celebration. During those five years, the Landis family won the Grand Prize for their floats. In his honor since his passing, the Landis family has established the "Delmar Landis Grand Prize" that is given to the Grand Prize winner in his memory.
